Lassen County's Sober Graduation 2026 was a tremendous success, bringing together graduates from across the county for an evening filled with fun, friendship, food, prizes, and celebration in a safe, substance-free environment.

 

The annual event provided graduating seniors with an opportunity to celebrate one of life's most important milestones while creating lasting memories with their classmates and peers. Throughout the evening, students enjoyed a variety of activities, including large inflatable games, axe throwing, basketball competitions, music, food, refreshments, and prize giveaways.

 

One of the most anticipated moments of the night was the grand prize drawing for a Kia Optima generously donated by Wheels West. The vehicle was awarded to lucky graduate Hollin Thomas. In addition, two graduates received $1,000 cash prizes, helping make the evening even more memorable.

The Lassen County Office of Education also extended support to graduating seniors throughout the county by donating $500 cash prizes to the graduation celebrations at Big Valley High School, Westwood High School, and Fort Sage High School.

 

"This event is about celebrating our students and providing them with a safe, positive way to recognize all of their hard work and accomplishments," said Patty Gunderson, Lassen County Superintendent of Schools. "Watching our graduates come together to enjoy this special night is incredibly rewarding. Their success represents the future of our community, and we are grateful to everyone who helped make this celebration possible."

 

The event featured food provided by the Lassen County Sheriff's Posse and beverages from Sno Mountain Chalet, along with numerous activities and attractions that kept students engaged throughout the evening.

 

James Hall, Director of Student, Family, and Community Engagement for the Lassen County Office of Education, emphasized the importance of community partnerships in making the event successful. "Sober Graduation is a true community effort," Hall said. "The support we receive from local businesses, organizations, volunteers, and sponsors allows us to create an unforgettable experience for our graduates. Every donation, every volunteer hour, and every partnership contributes to a night that celebrates students and encourages healthy choices as they begin the next chapter of their lives."

 

The Lassen County Office of Education extends its sincere gratitude to all of the event's sponsors and supporters, including Wheels West for the vehicle donation and the CHP 140 Club for their generous contribution from their annual golf tournament. Additional support from numerous local businesses, organizations, and community members helped make the evening possible.
