Fatherhood Summit
Fathers, grandfathers, mentors, coaches, and community members from across Lassen County gathered on June 13 at Diamond View School for the 2026 Lassen County Fatherhood Summit, a day dedicated to celebrating fatherhood, building connections, and strengthening families.
Hosted by the Lassen County Fatherhood Partnership, the summit centered on the theme "Voices of Fatherhood: Real Stories, Real Challenges, Real Impact." The event provided a welcoming space for men to share experiences, learn from one another, access resources, and gain practical tools to support the children and families in their lives.
The summit featured inspiring presentations from local fathers and community leaders Russell Bates, Mitch Lively, Orlando Shannon, and Barney McKee, who shared personal stories about the rewards and challenges of fatherhood. Their messages focused on perseverance, leadership, mentorship, and the lasting impact fathers have on future generations.
Throughout the day, attendees participated in workshops and demonstrations, enjoyed great food, connected with community resources, and had opportunities to win a variety of prizes. The event's strong turnout reflected the growing commitment throughout Lassen County to support fathers and recognize the critical role they play in helping children succeed.
"The Fatherhood Summit is about creating opportunities for men to connect, learn, and realize they are not alone in their journey," said James Hall, Director of Student, Family, and Community Engagement for the Lassen County Office of Education. "Every father has a story, every father faces challenges, and every father has the potential to make a tremendous impact. When we invest in fathers, we invest in families, and when families thrive, our entire community benefits."
The summit emphasized the core values of leadership, mentorship, community, respect, and legacy, encouraging participants to continue building positive relationships with their children and serving as role models within their communities.
Organizers expressed their gratitude to the speakers, volunteers, sponsors, community partners, and attendees who helped make the event a success. Their support helped create an engaging and meaningful experience for everyone who attended.
The Lassen County Fatherhood Partnership remains committed to providing resources, programs, and opportunities that empower fathers and strengthen families throughout the county.
As the event concluded, one message resonated throughout the room: Strong Dads. Strong Families. Stronger Communities.
