About red ribbon week
Red Ribbon Week is the nation’s largest and longest-running drug prevention campaign, observed annually to raise awareness about the importance of living drug-free. It honors the legacy of DEA agent Enrique “Kiki” Camarena, whose tragic death in 1985 sparked a movement to educate youth and communities about the dangers of substance abuse. During this week, schools, families, and communities come together to promote healthy choices, encourage personal responsibility, and empower students to lead safe, drug-free lives. Through themed activities, assemblies, and outreach events, Red Ribbon Week fosters a culture of prevention and supports the well-being of our youth.
