Fifth grade students from throughout Lassen County attend the program that is held in the BLM's Belfast range. The purpose of the event is to encourage students to appreciate and respect the beautiful outdoor world of Northern California, and to gain a better understanding of how people once thrived in such a difficult environment. They will learn about the desert and Native American life. Presentations will be about animals, plants, daily living, and land preservation.
In the past when the road to Belfast was impassable, 5th grade day was held on the Bizz Johnson Trail.
